Default Tips on Alternators

The other day I flooded my jeep and doing so i fried my alternator, does any body know any way to keep it dry or atleast from getting fried? Is there any way to like seal it with a box or somthing like that. I heard about moving it up to the top of the engine does any one know anything about that, or any body know if putting like vasaline on the connections will keep it from frying?

There are three or four threads on NAXJA about mounting the alternator up in place of the aircon compressor - you may find those instructive (www.naxja.org.) I believe the 2.46L MJ bracketry for the same alternator (1987-1990 will be the Delco CS-130, 1991-1992 will be the Nippondenso) will work to relocate it more directly, and the ZJ/WJ bracketry may also be used - again, as I recall, and with modified belt routing.

Any of the foregoing require removing the aircon compressor, and discharging the system (unless you get the lines extended to mount the compressor in place of the alternator. In that case, the belt routing probably need not be modified overmuch.)
