96 cherokee shifter problem
My shifter has an issue that I can't get to the bottom of. The little colored dot that indicates what gear I'm in doesn't sit in the correct marker, and as a result my jeep won't start at times unless I wiggle it, as well as my reverse lights don't always work. I pulled the little mechanism out but it wouldn't come over my shifter. If anyone has a tip of some kind it'd be greatly appreciated.

The shifter connects to a linkage under your vehicle. You may need to adjust it. A chilton or haynes manual will detail this or you can check this page: http://www.lunghd.com/Tech_Articles/...djustments.htm
