Default Tightened Lugs, but wheel still moves.

Okay, I have a 1994 Cherokee Sport and the left front wheel doesn't tighten up. I tightened all the lugs, but when I jack it up I can move the wheel around and I hear metal hitting metal.

What do I need to tighten?

Is something broken?

are you sure it's not your hub bearing that is moving around?!

I don't know what it is. It probably is the bearing though. My Jeep has gotten minimal care from my dad for the last few years.

Is it hard to change?

I don't know your skill level, it can be a challenge for novice, but still a do it yourselfer type project. Have some one help you check it out, jack it up and while the helper rocks the tire up and down, and side to side...look at the hub and the ball joints for the movement. It sounds like the hub bearing from what you stated originally though.

Plenty of good writeups on wheel hub replacement. If you wait much longer you'll end up with this mess.

Writeup here. https://www.cherokeeforum.com/f51/co...y-swap-129872/

Also a good time to check your axle seals... http://naxja.net/forum/showthread.php?t=937821

Not sure if that writeup mentions it or not, but a 34MM socket works perfectly to pound in the axle seals. I picked up a 34MM axle socket along with the 36MM socket from O'reily for around $10 each.
