Throwing CPS Code (P1694) but running
So I've had my Xj for 2 weeks and it's been having issues every day... but what do you expect for a $900 XJ that comes with 2 lifts and 31s in the trunk as well. Recently it's been throwing the P1694 code which is the crankshaft position sensor. Everything online that read about it says that their jeep doesnt run when its throwing that code but mine does. I'm only 16 so I dont have too much experience with working on cars. Could that code be thrown whenever the winch ground wire sparks? I cant seem to get it to stop sparking no matter what and it just started recently. The jeep does require a jump every so often whenever the winch sparks. It's been needing a jump more and more recently. Anybody know if the CPS is causing that or if that's it's own problem? Thanks

When my CPS was making my Jeep stall, pretty much after reaching operating temperature, I did not have any codes at all. Pending or otherwise. Was due to thermal failure I'm pretty sure. Have you cleared to code to see if it comes back?

People will tell you to buy a Mopar one. I did. $79 off Amazon. Thinking your local dealership will want to soak you for it though if they have one in stock. Most likely a Mopar one will be cheaper online.

I have seen a P1694 being caused by a shorted crank sensor, but more frequently I have found it to be something else. The P1694 is absolutely not the primary code for a failing crank sensor.
Your vehicles computer failing or the TCM (transmission control module) or associated wiring is a possibility. Here is more on this code.
And yea, you absolutely, gotta fix that winch issue! Stray electronics can create all kinds of gremlins.
