Threads stck in cylinder head

Help! What do I do ? What can I do to fix it without taking head off

wilcherkyle May 8, 2012 06:47 AM

Sorry ! Spark plug stuck in head

TheJerm May 8, 2012 07:48 AM

Properly explaining the issue would help. The spark plug is stuck in the head? like it broke or you rounded it off?

Firestorm500 May 8, 2012 07:50 AM

Soak it down with PB Blaster for starters.

Yes I try to loosen it and it just gets tighter

Gee oh Dee May 8, 2012 09:40 AM

Was it cross threaded?

hankthetank May 8, 2012 09:42 AM

Pull the head. (Last resort)

Post a nice clear high resolution pic.
Which cylinder? how old is the plug? using the right size socket? Got any others out, or is this the first one you tried?

Are you sure that you are turning it the right way???

wilcherkyle May 8, 2012 10:39 AM

Yes I know how to remove spark plugs ! I changed 3 already but 3 won't come out ! I think they might be cross threaded not sure but I can't get them out and I don't want to pull the head

...how does a spark plug get that tight in the head without breaking the actual plug? And I thought the threads of plugs were stainless or rust preventive or something?? Did someone impact them in there?

Dwestonxj May 8, 2012 10:45 AM

Let your motor get hot then carefully try to just break them loose..

^^Are you sure about that?^^
Just messing with you.
Just try like the others said. Spray down the plugs wit PB Blaster. Then bring the engine up to temp. Give that a try before pulling the head. Let us know if it works.

1. Overtightened when put in.

2. Bearing down on them instead of just turning in a circle trying to get them out, thereby galling the threads. This happens all the time.

3. No anti-seize put on them when installed.

4. Been in there too long. Carbon fouled on inner threads. Rusted to the head.

5. All of the above.
