Thought battery was dead, I think fuse issues, please help

I have a 93 xj that recently went from primary vehicle to secondary. It sat for a week or so and then wouldn't start, no lights nothing, dead battery. Replaced the battery, all lights on now. Turn the key and I get a click and all lights shut off. If I disconnect the battery and reconnect I can repeat this process over and over, lights on looks all good, turn key, click no start and all lights off.

Is this a blown fuse? I plan I finding the box and pulling each out and looking tomorrow but figured you all might have some insight. Also if anyone has any idea on what might be draining the battery or how to figure that out I'd greatly appreciate the help.

Usually a click followed by a full electrical shutdown (that resets when you reconnect) is an indicator that the battery connections are not tight enough, or otherwise need attention. Also check the battery positive cable to the fuseable link connection on the front of the PDC (under hood fuse/relay box). If you can move battery terminal connectors by hand at all, they are not pushed down and tight enough.

If they are the slightest bit loose, they will build up a dull grey coating on the posts and clamps that has a high resistance. Be sure to scratch them up bright before you tighten them up.

It definitely isn't a fuse. Those are either blown or they aren't.

Clean the battery terminals and battery posts good with a battery brush. Also, inspect the cables to see if corrosion has migrated into the cables themselves.

Hey, shes up and running. So after reading everyone's posts I traced the batter cables down to the starter and saw it was covered in dripped oil from the engine, so wiped it off some. Then I reconnected my rear speakers which I had just taken off for another car, but the wire ends were not touching anything but plastic. Finally, I reconnected and made sure the clamps were nice and tight, I'm pretty sure this was it. First forum post and greatly appreciate the help.

If it does this no-crank again, try putting the shifter in neutral. If that fixes it, then the neutral safety switch (NSS) needs cleaned.
