For those who have the ZJ fanclutch
 

I've searched and found some good info on the subject, but i'm unsure still about doing this mod. My XJ runs at a normal temp, (just below 210 ish). I replaced the thermostat with a 195 and installed a new water pump also. I've noticed in the the trails though that when i'm crawling it likes to creep up and the electric fan kicks in quite a bit. I'm contemplating doing the change to the zj clutch to help pull more air through to take the load off the electric fan but as I live in Ontario Canada, it's not out of the ordinary to see -20 to -30 celcius (-4 to -22 Fahrenheit if I recall correctly) in the winter time.

My question or concern is not about the noise, as I really don't care about that...but rather about whether or not i'll be ok in the winter with the cold temps and the bigger clutch. Will the heat inside still blow hot enough??

It may just take a tad longer to reach operating temperature but it'll get there so long as your thermostat is working properly and stays closed until reaching operating temperature.

But since the bigger fan clutch will pull more air, it'll keep it cooler longer, hence the longer heat up time

Thanks for the information. That's what I was assuming but I wasn't certain.

With the ZJ fan clutch, mine only takes a bit longer to reach operating temp. Mine isn't that loud either.

what year and engine ZJ should I order the fan clutch for? I've also heard of a heavy duty fan clutch that the police package and forest service Cherokees had. any truth to that? I have the extended idle mod done. but I feel I should have a better fan clutch to go along with it.

OP, you might wanna do yourself a favor and get a Mopar stat from the dealer. 83501426.

My Jeeps are up to operating temp in less than 5 minutes and 2 miles of driving at 20*F here in the winter. The aftermarket Stants I had before left me freezing for miles.

The Stant thermostats let some coolant pass even when closed, supposed to be used with a high flow water pump.
The V8 clutch works great and is not noisy. In winter I put the stock fan back on. The V8 clutch supposedly robs a MPG or two but is worth it for steady temps in the tough stuff.

I've noticed no difference in warm up time with the HD clutch.

I replaced the thermostat with a 195 MOPAR and I can tell you it is built ALOT better than the one that was in it. Not sure what brand it was.
