I presume u r having a overheating issue.....a properly functioning t-stat does one thing, control MINIMUM coolant temp.....FSM specifically says "do not operate without a t-stat".

No good reason to operate without a stat.
Keep a quality stat in there (Jeep or Stant SuperStat)
195 degrees is the best temp stat for 99% of 4.0 applications

I run my truck without one and it really helps nothing if you are overheating fix the problem don't try and mask the issue.

FYI removing it may actually create an overheating issue. the coolant flows too fast to be cooled by the radiator and returns to engine too hot. No jeep experience on this one, but happens all the type on the drag mustangs used to have.

Most computer controlled vehicles are designed to run at an optimal normal operating temperature. The XJs were no exception. By removing the thermostat, you will run cooler, unless there is another cooling system issue causing the vehicle to run hotter than normal, such as a radiator problem, head gasket issue, etc. You'll hurt the overall performance by running it at lower than optimum temps. Anyway you're not really helping anything by doing this. Back in the day, it wasn't as big a deal as it is today. If there's a problem, better to fix the problem then band-aid it like this.

If theres no other probs, it will take longer to warm up, which means rich longer, and thats less MPG, and that leaves less $$$ in your wallet

Once the CTS sees that coolant temp has crossed 160F, a heat cycle is considered complete. Technically, optimal coolant temp heat is a RANGE from 160F to 218F (factory setting efan on).
System enters "closed loop" well before 160F coolant temp.
