The thing that has red pencil all over it, what is it called? and about how much would it be to get a new/used (used if I can find) one? My tire/wheel fell off today while I was driving, and mine is bent now, or at least I think/hope it is.

joshpallotta 05-11-2009 06:01 PM

what problems are you having with it?

BuckB91XJ 05-11-2009 06:02 PM

Got a set of brake drums off of a Junkyard donor for my Chrysler 8.25 for $20.

REWSTER 05-11-2009 06:19 PM

take it to the dealer they will fix you up

Rmart30 05-11-2009 06:26 PM

REWSTER easy on the noobie....:naughty:

$10-20 from the local junkyard plus another 10-20 to resurface it....

id probably just buy a new one from your local AP store and know it was good, probably run ya $50......take it with ya to make sure you get the right one.

taythegibs 05-11-2009 06:35 PM

you probably want both sides so it brakes evenly

JeepingDan 05-11-2009 07:27 PM

Make sure those wheel studs are still good.

Thank you everybody :)

I got a new one at advance auto parts for $39.21, works perfectly. I'll get the other side tomorrow :D

Now all I have to worry about is the damage to the garage that it hit when it flew off :(

XJ?2010 05-11-2009 09:13 PM

well at least it came off in your driveway and not on the road

Don't know about you, but when things fall off in my driveway, I don't say they "flew off" :dunno:

semi-related side story: I came home from work, and a bunch of stuff that was up on the window in the kitchen was laying in the sink.

I started yelling at the cats, thinking they knocked it all off...

Later I took the dog out and saw the grill laying on its side and a tire laying in the back yard. While I was trying to figure out where the tire came from I heard a diesel idling and a guy screaming on a phone.

I asked him if he lost a tire, and he said he did.

He was towing a car for his boss, the the guy only had 2 lung nuts on each wheel. While driving down the road, he saw the tire pass him and bounce off the curb and over the fence.

It apparently bounced through 4 yards, hit our grill, hit the frame of the kitchen window and ended up in our back yard.

There is still a scuff on the window frame I need to get off... Anyone know what takes rubber off of white vinyl?

So... that is what I would concider something "flying off" and hitting a garage

Ha... i watched a front tire fall off a Prowler when it landed on my aircraft carrier... took out a navy cat and broke his leg... then rolled off and dropped 80 foot into the water... never to be seen again... felt bad for the guy but was kinda funny watching him face plant when it took out his legs... lol

Make a paste with baking soda and water and scrub with a dishcloth, not a sponge, rinse with rubbing alcohol and a clean cloth.
