an ax-15 does not have a pump, will not work, just leave the rubber ends on them will not hurt anything. I would run some water through the block before you run that water through the radiator, that sludge is iron from the block from serious neglect and lack of antifreeze.

The pic is not that good but it should be the studs that hold the top of the radiator to the metal top that goes across the radiator. looks like the it may have more than needed kinda of a universal setup. The radiator is fine to use,I guess they did not have a radiator for a manual or it was not specified.

Only if they get in the way,and if you do sniped them off or cut them,do not bend them. Sometimes radiators fit other applications and they will put the studs on so they can be removed.

Just curious, not to thread jack but since this is on the same topic as what I was to do soon I figured I would ask.

I have an 87 with the closed pressure system. What is the easiest way to flush the cooling system with this type? I am not seeing any build up or anything like that in there but I want to do it as sort of a preventative type thing.

Mine use to be the same and all I did was put flush in plastic bottle,(after i emptied the block) and fill with water and burp until it was full and let it run for awhile, then rinse it with clean water, then fill with distilled water
