Is there a blower motor how to write up?

I've been searching but havent found one. Do I need to go in under the glove box or is it under the hood and I need to take out the water tank thing by the firewall? Anyone have a link?

Thanks in advance.

IIRC I think this is one of those PITA things that you don't want to do, or if you have to you might want to replace the heater core too if it's old cause I think you have to take the whole dash off and remover the heater box to get the motor out. I've done it once on my '99- not fun, but you should be able to do it in a couple hours.

This is the only thing I have on blower motor.

Blower Motor

I was going to mention about the blower motor resistor too, then forgot. So let's ask, what's the symptom of your blower motor?

I replaced the blower resistor since it was only working on high. The blower motor had been making noise since I got it so i knew it was only a matter of time. Shortly after replacing the resistor, it quit blowing at any speed. Can't believe no one has replaced a blower motor in these things yet. Maybe just not the people checking in so far.:dunno:

AFAIK It's located on the passenger side fire wall (round metal box). It took 3 bolts to get it out. I'm speaking only from my experience on a 91. I haven't had to change any on my newer Jeeps. AFA speed control, on that same Jeep the wire connectors on the back of the rocker/slide switch in the dash were toast. I didn't want to buy a another one so I used a SPDT toggle switch. It gave me 3 of the 4 speeds but it wasn't pretty (just hanging by the wires and all).

Hope that helps

Thats good news. Shouldnt be that difficult then. I looked at the climate control switches earlier and they seemed to be in good shape so hopefully changing the motor out will solve the problem.

I did mine on my '92 yesterday. Takes about 5 minutes.

Remove washer fluid bottle bolts and move out of the way.

Remove 3 5/16 sheet metal screws that hold in blower.

Remove blower and unplug.

Install new blower with 3 screws and plug in.

Put washer bottle back

Enjoy the A/C or heat.

To those with 99's and quite possibly 97-01(cause they didn't vary much in that time period.) Today I just went for it...It was super simple but a pain in the ***. Its right on the firewall (engine compartment side) on the passenger side, there are three hex head screws holding it in. Pull the wiring, remove the screws, and have a hell of a time twisting and turning and prying it out of in between the engine compartment walls and the evap canister. If any of you are electrically inclined you may be able to fix it. Test around for continuity and figure out where you have the short. Mine just needed some adjustments on the brushes/brush springs. It may not last very long, but it saves me 60ish bucks for now! :gunsmilie:
