Default Thank goodness for Rain-x

So im here in Columbus, OH. Driving home from work this morning in a downpoor in the dead of winter...

My wipers are going, charging my cellphone, and I go to turn the heater on and all 3 stopped. In addition, my rear defrost was not functional, and my turn signals didn't work. Rear wiper worked fine. Without rain x I would be dead, or at least pretty crashed... I could still see pretty ok considering the conditions.

all my exterior lights were on, and my brights worked too. I was confused why so much stuff wouldn't work.

Here is the kicker. I got home and turned my car off and as it was winding down everything started working again. no problems. WTF.

anybody have a suggestion? I haven't had time to look, I'm about to hit the hay, but I can't have this be a possibility. any help would be appreciated. thanks in advance.

Typical of a failing ignition switch at the brown wire.

Rain-x about the best I have found for rain after hitting 45 mph no wipers needed seems that snow and slop don't stick at all. One of the few good products out there another is Seal-All for contact sealant for plastic tanks etc, cheaper than heck but works very well. Hope you found your problem,

got 1 at oreilly for 13.50. Haynes manual makes it sound easier to get at than it really is, but I got everything tore apart and the one terminal looks pretty cooked. I am confident that this was the issue seeing the condition of it.

I appreciate your help guys, really made this an easy fix for me.

Did you clean and tighten the terminal that was cooked so it won't be likely to happen again?

Rain-X has been my friend since I got samples at the race track back in the 80's. Other companies have come out with replicas, but I stay with the original.

Amazing! I was also driving in CBus, in the early 90s, in a rainstorm, on a Sunday (no auto parts stores open then) when I was introduced to RainX. Been my best friend ever since.

Shhh...the secret to the sauce is...RUBBING ALCOHOL. Does the same thing, but I still use the brand name cause its awesome.

UPDATE:

So my BWD replacement switch from O'reilly was missing the spring that kicks it back out of the "start" position.

I thought the guy gave me the wrong part, everything worked ok, but it was just a little janky. I was driving by an Advance today and bought the same part and noticed the spring missing.

anyway... NOOOWWW everything is perfect. fixed. easy. solid. It was just a pain in the butt screwing with it for the first time with a messed up new part.

just enough to make it a legitimate learning experience!!
