I have a 98 xj with the straight 6. I want to replace my temp sensor and can't find it at all. I found the one on the thermostat housing but I'm told there is one one the back of the head on the driver side. Does someone have a pic of this or something? I can't find it anywhere.

 

Sorry I don't have a pict. But it should be back there. The only other thing is maybe the po changed the head. I can't remember what years didn't have it back there. Maybe some one that know can help you out a little more.

Mike, on the 98 there is only one and it's the one you found on the tstat housing.

I have a 98as well. Sensor and sender in one unit.

'97 up the ECM tells the gauge needles where to point via info received from the various sensors. '96 down the gauges were fed info directly via various sending units.

 

I know this is an old thread, but on the '96 and earlier, which sensor does what? Which one is for the pcm?
