All the linkage and everything is disconnected right? Cant think of any other reason. I had the prob. with a tranny once and had to push the clutch peddle to get it to go in all the way...sorry best I could do.

yes both shafts off the truck .. linkage off, both speedo and switch sensors disconnected breather and Six Bolts
I too had the problem with a trany once. it eventually popped off ..
I wasn't sure if there was a internal lock and if it needed to be in a specific gear to release .. I tried all of them ...
It could be binding.. I'm going to enlist the help of a buddy. While i support the TC on my chest he can give it a solid strait yank ..
Anyone ever have the shafts rust together?

yes cross member was off too.
I finally got it the aluminum oxidized and welded the top bolt post to the trany. I managed to get it off somewhat but the oxidation compressed and packed itself so tight I had to pry it .. I did mare the edge a bit in one spot. i I'm hoping everything lines up ok.
