TC swap around...need a little insight
I've got 2 XJ's, an 89 and a 97. I've decided to strip what I can from the 89 and swap it to the 97 as it's just a nicer vehicle all around.
The question I have, can I take the TC from the 89 (4.0 ax15 swapped) to the 97 (4.0 AW4)? The 89 has a JB SYE, and I'd really like to have that on the 97 instead. Would it be easier to just swap the tail shafts around? I don't know that I want to tear them both down as I'll need one to get around with...and I'd hate to mess them both up. I'm a capable mechanic, with proper tools...but I'm still pretty new to Jeeps. |
I would switch the sye over if IM not mistaken they have different input shafts and the t cases are different. But someone else chime in and correct me
Are they the same model tcase?
input spline count is different.
It went from 21 to 23 correct? So can he even use the sye on the other t case if it is the same
correct. he can as long as it is the not the hack and tap (needs to be the full shaft)
Sounds good I thought I was kinda right but never done one. lol well theres his answer. lol
So tail shaft swap it is. I was curious about the input shaft spline count, but was unsure.
It's not a h&t, full jb sye. |
Thanks for the help.

Let us know how it turns out for you.

you're gonna have to split both cases and remove the output shaft and reinstall into the 97 case.
