TC bolt help

TC bolt help
ok did some reseach and found nothing, so I am trying to seperate the TC from the tranny. I have gotten all but one bolt ( front of TC 242 driver side of jeep). so any tricks ??? oh yea have not dropped the crossmember as of yet. boy o boy is this a PITA going to go back out in the morning ( hopefully no snow and warmer temp's ( fingers crossed)

Put a floor jack under the trans pan (with a piece of wood between the pan and jack) drop the x-member and let the jack down slowly to allow the TC to droop. Should be gravy then. Gear wrenches and universals come in handy when pulling the TC as well. Good luck!

The floor jack under the trans pans is a must. I would also recommend spraying some penetrating oil on the 4 bolts that attach the cross member to the uni body. They snap very easily if you go right at them. Work them back and forth a bit before you start wrenching on them.

I would suggest heating up the cross member bolts before attempting to remove them, but I'm not going to because I love reading posts about people snapping the heads off the bolts.
