So I've got no left side FRT and REAR parking/ running lights. Right side is good to go. Brake lights, turn sigs and back-up lights all good on both sides. I've checked fuses, checked bulbs, all good. Any insight is appreciated.

I would check connections next. i had that problem with my driver side blinkers and come to find out the connector to the switch wasn't plugged in all the way so it was only working on one side. If that doesn't fix it you you might need to get a tester and start checking wire continuity to see if you have broken wires somewhere.

Well, I've found the license plate light is in-operative too. I have opened up the interior so when my wire tracer comes in tomorrow I'll be back at it. Thanks for your input.

Today I found all my wires are intact from the License plate light, and both tail lights back to the fuse block. I have to remove the fuse block to find the broken wire. I've taken two nuts off, it's loose, jiggly but won't come off. Has anyone else removed a fuse block?

I've got no power coming out at the wire that is supposed to energize left side marker lights at the fuse box.

Check the fuse for the left side fog light. It's one in the cabin fuse block. I had a fog light that was blowing this fuse and it caused the left tail light and sidemarker to go out. For some reason it's wired like that for the left side but not the right side?

Now what???
I've found that power comes from fuse 23 to power bottom plug on the left. It energizes both sides of marker lights at different pins. The Right side pin"O" energized at full voltage, the eft side pin "x" voltage was 0.

. . o . .
. x . .
Next is to crack'er open and see what's inside.

This is the plug I found to energize the taillights. Gr/Y wire energizes right side.
The Br/Y wire energizes left side to License plate light. It fits in the plug at bottom left of the panel.

This is what the insides looks like. I'll be needing a JY one to replace, or new for 200$ + tax.

No, but that's a whole other can 'o' worms lol. Right now I've just got all the lights working. Next job, tackle the trailer lights. It's also wired to tow behind my motor home. Didn't know there was a kit for XJs specifically.

Thanks a million for your work in posting your results! The comments and pictures worked for me in solving my same issue, and have taken a load of stress off wondering if I would have an expensive fix at the dealer! I very much appreciate you taking the time to document everything and helping others like myself!
