Tail light armor
I have seen on a few xj's cage style armor on the the taillights. It reminds me of the armor some wranglers have. My freinds xj has it but he said they were on it when he got it. I cannot find anywhere that sells anything like this. does anyone know where to buy this?

Some that I have seen were adapted from a Land Rover. Saw them on an XJ in a parking lot and happened to see the owner and that's what he told me.

How about something like this?
I am not a big fan of the wire cages.. and something like these would provide more protection.. to each thier own.
The above picture came from here: http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=414562
However I believe they are available from 4wd hardware or Quadratec..

You beat me to it prerunner1982. I plan on getting a set of these for my Jeep in the coming months. I do remember seeing a set where the lights were kind of recessed inside a small lip, instead of just flat like those. I can't seem to find them now though.

This is the only place I could find them online. Says the '84 - '96 is out of stock.

why would a flat square piece of metal with 2 holes in it will cost $200+, its makes direct contact with the real lights, so if it gets a hit,, it will still damage the tails. I guess,, unless thats some real thick metal.. IDK.. cant you guys make those yourself...
cant howler make some... we should ask him...

I said the same thing, the price is ridiculous. I have a few friends that work at machine shops here in the area, I think I'll see if they can make me a set for a fraction of the cost of those. And they will be built A LOT tougher.
