Tail and Dash Lights Out and a 7.5 fuse

So I had my tail lights and Dash Lights go out. Needless to say I became really popular driving home that night:scooter:

Anyways, I went ahead and got that $10 fuse kit from walmart and started replacing all my fuses since I just bought the XJ and there was no maintenance history. Low and behold I run into some 7.5 fuses (which were not included in the Wally World Kit). I was a little confused. I replaced everything I could and tried the lights, no luck. So I tested the two 7.5 fuses and one was blown.

On closer examination, the 7.5 fuse was plugged into a 15 fuse spot and so I figured that was the issue. I replaced it with a 15 and everything was fine and all the lights came back on. I'm a little worried though, because I'm wondering why the F*#($ a 7.5 was plugged into a 15:bangin:. Is there anything you guys can think of?

Someone probably just ran out of the right fuses - it was only a matter of time before that 7.5a blew on a 15a circuit.

are you sure it wasnt in SLOT 15?
Where did you get the 15a spec from?

someone probly just didnt have the right fuses and used what they had at the time

Looks like you do need a 15a on that circuit, at least my girlfriends 96 does.
Someone pry ran out of fuses and used a 7.5 to get by..
You can see on slot 15, it is a 15a fuse and controls your parking lights and IP lights.

All my slots are labeled (15, 25, 7.5, etc).

Yeah, I'm hoping that's what it was. My only other thought is that there's a 7.5 slot right under it, I suppose it's possible they got them mixed up.

why dont you instead of talking about it, go plug a 15a in the slot ? haha
