If you don't have any other problems with your cooling system, it shouldn't cause it to overheat. You should run the factory recommended temp.

The 180 degree t stat is actually low for your jeep, recomended is 192 . The computer will not go into closed loop untill it hits 180. So the answer is no. Check the rest of the system there is an issue somewhere.

It should cause it to run a little cool. If you are overheating with a stock 195 Tstat or cooler, you have other problems, plugged radiator, water pump issues, Engine problem.
