t case rear seal 4 xj
 
:hi all, just after info on the rear seal for my t case.. ie part number what is the correct name for it ...95 xj...its leaking from t case were shaft goes in at rear..thing is in my little country things like this are hard to get ...and cost heaps....or so im told...if have right part number , might make things a bit easyer...hope this makes sence... cheers: the kiwi opps wrong place. :dunno:

It's called the rear transfer case output seal.

You can get all the seals for the tcase there. Click on drivetrain, then seals, and on page 2 is the transfer case seals, both 231 and 242. HTH

Not too bad of a job. I did mine when i had the output housing off. I'm not sure if it can be done with the housing on. Wait till someone else chimes in. If you have to take the housing off, it's just a couple bolts and breaking the rtv seal. Easy.

It's not hard to do with the transfer case in the Jeep.

If you have a seal driver kit, its easier. But you can do it with a block of wood and hammer to tap the seal into place.
