Switching IR recevier to RF for keyless entry
Hello all. I've learned a lot about my XJ through this forum, but I've searched and couldn't find an answer to my question. I want to replace the IR keyless entry to RF for a 1999 XJ. I saw one for a 94 XJ, but my wires are different in the overhead console. Does anybody know the wiring diagram for the IR sensor harness? I need the colors for POSITIVE, NEGATIVE, UNLOCK, and LOCK. If anybody knows it would be helpful. Thank you. :help:

Does anybody know the colors for the wires in the harness that connect to the IR receiver in a 99 XJ? I know PINK is 12V Constant, BLACK is Ground, but I don't know which wires are Lock and Unlock. It has nine wires, so figuring it out is hard.

I just went to Best Buy and had them install a Viper alarm with keyless lock/unlock remote and arm.
My '92 had keyless entry when new but by the time I got the Jeep, the remotes were long gone. |
I have two key FOB's. One doesn't work and the other works only if I'm inside the vehicle. I was trying to do it myself, using the old IR system in the headliner. My wife doesn't want me to put to much money in it, but I just love my XJ. People have done it before, but with older XJ's. The later model XJ has different color wires, so I was curious if anybody else had did it and know which wires to tap into.

Tell your wife you don't want her to put too much money into clothes, cosmetics, hair-dos, or shoes and see what she has to say about that.
