Switch mounts

I have a couple of ideas about how i want to mount my switches for onboard air, lights, kill switch and such but would like to see some pics of what some of you have done. I think i want to build some sort of "pod" to mount on the ceiling above the front window but lets see what you've got.

Hey mike, did you install the overhead console yourself, or did it come on the cherokee?

a1racer Mar 16, 2009 01:13 PM

i like both of those but the factory console looks better a little more clean to me but it is hard to find the consoles some times

The one xjjeepthing has is almost exactly what i had in mind but i would definitely like to see more. Thanks for the link xj, i dont know if you have looked at it in a while but his latest box is sweet  it looks extra clean. here is a pic

that is sweet I would go for that set up if I didn't have the console

Its nice to have them up there but why would you want to do all that work to snake the wires up there when there is plenty of room on the dash

Just my thought.

why do what everybody else is doing. change it up a little IMHO. i think fitch definitely did that. looks like a factory install and its not something everyone has. i like it :thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

I love the look of that overhead console...although I think the first gen model with the silver switches was cooler looking than the big plastic ones....but then again, I just like flipping those types of switches LOL :)

Can you buy premade switch boxes like that?

I havent found any but that doesn't mean they are not out there. Its cool to make your own stuff though.

HeepSpeed Mar 17, 2009 10:35 AM

Yea, I'm going to make my own, because so far I'm only finding 8-switch boxes for around $250!!!! Ridiculous considering how inexpensive the parts are. Looks like I'll figure this out with the forum's help!

**EDIT: I've been finding some for ~$30 that are just the panels with illuminated switches...the relays and wiring will cost extra...but it still seems like it'll be more fun to make it :)

I just got my toggles mounted in the lower dash (older style dash, Plenty of room for wiring and easy to flip em
