suspension probs
I recently bought a 4.5" rough country lift with new leafs, shocks, and coils all from rough country. Everything went well untill I took it off road. I went into a ditch and up a slope and it made some really strange noises. It was as if someone was hitting the bottom of my cherokee with a sledge hammer repeatedly. With every inch that I articulated it made such a horrible sound as if it was cracking or breaking. I backed out and nothing looked broken, nor did anything look like it was rubbing. I am fairly new to wheeling, is this normal?

It sounded bad, I was afraid to move on. Ill take a look at my control arms. I didn't see any rubbing is there something I could look for?

look where the control arm mounts to the axle , look for cracks along the mount plate , and look at the coil spring perch where the control arm sits and see if its got some ware from the control arm hittiing it , snap some pics and post em up

The overhang is on both sides of the vehicle. There are set grooves for the spring to sit and it is just below that overhang. I did put the clip back but would the clip really make that much noise?
