Suspension Problems on a 2000 XJ
 

MY buddy asked me to asked the forum a question about his suspension. He has a 4.5 Rubicon Express Lift running 33 inch Swampers. His Jeep is sitting at an angle and his leaf springs are flexed sitting normal in the driveway. We noticed tonight that his shocks are bent in a C shape. Everytime he takes it to a shop they say the same thing that there is nothings wrong. BUt when he flexes out his tires are rubbing on his fenders. The Fenders have been cut so it shouldn't be doing this. His Fenders are getting bent up from this. Does anyone have any inside on what might be going wrong? Any Help for him would be awsome. Front or rear shocks that are bent? Front or rear fender contact with the tires? When you say sitting at an angle do you mean lower in the front or rear, or at an angle left to right side?

Tonight when I looked at it it looked like the Rear Shocks are bent into a C shape. The Jeep is Higher in the front than the Rear. And he has been tearing up his Front Fenders. The Rear Fenders are fine. The Leaf Springs on each side look like they are flexed out and not sitting normal.

Even with the fronts trimmed, at 4.5 inches with 33s there could still be some contact when the tires get stuffed. Bigomudders has 6.5 inches of lift, the fenders are heavily trimmed and he still rubs at full flex. I suggest extended bumpstops for the front.

On the rear shocks it sounds like they are to long and have been bent under full compression. Take measurements for the rear shocks at both full flex and full suspension compression for the right length. And then also add some extended bumpstops there as well.

Now what do you mean the rear springs look flexed sitting normal?

Sweet thanks for the Advice! They dont have the normal curve to them, they are flat. Ill take some mesaurments and see what happens and keep you posted. Thanks Guys
