I have a 96 cherokee classic with a 4.5" rubicon express lift and i am wanting to swap it to a 98 cherokee sport with stock suspension. with the rear i am going to just unbolt the leafs and shocks and undo the brake lines and swap over thatway because the rear end is out of the 98. i need to know what all to swap over from the front and how to do it. anyone have a write up? also hw can you tell what rearend you have? i want to know what earend is in my 96 how ca i tell?

 

swap the leafs, shocks, buy new u-bolts for the job. be prepared to snap the upper shock bolts. ( if you do pm me for a fix)chances are there is a drop bracket for the rear brake line, same as the front brake lines take those too. that should be about it for the rear, correct me if I'm wrong guys. for the front, take the shocks, springs, lower controll arms (your kit may have come with uppers too compare them and swap if the lifted ones are different. adjustable trac bar and t-case drop kit or sye (if equipped) should go also. see if your lift manufacturer has installation instructions on their website look them over and see if theres anything i've missed. and also, spray the s**t out of everything you will be taking apart with pb blaster for a few days before going through with things, it'll make your life alot easier, and your knuckles less bloody. good luck, let us know how you make out

 

i am swapping the whole rear end so i wont need to undo the ubolts. i will just inbolt the shocks, and leafs and brake lines. the lift is less than a year old so hope i dont break top shock bolts. How do i know what rear end i have?

 

do a search. tons of people have posted pics to id the rear sxle. but the easiest way to tell is do u have abs. if u do its a d 35 if u dont its an 8.25

 

my 96 cherokee classic does not have ABS. which is better d35 or 8.25?
