I do believe you have to modify things a bit to remove that from the setup..There is a rightup somewhere just can't remember where.

get a belt for an xj without a/c. I did it on a tj a while back.
why do you want to bypass it? alot of guys that don't use a/c turn the compressor into an onboard air system.
