Default A supid idea, maybe??

Had a stupid thought. Would hooking your A/C to the air intake to give you a cold air intake produce more HP. Yes there maybe a HP loss running the a/c but would it provide more than is being used??

I'm not sure if you would have enough CFM for the engine to run properly.

This idea is sort of like hooking up a 1000w inverter then plugging an AC battery charger into it to charge the battery that's powering the inverter.

However, yours is not a stupid idea. It's actually very clever thinking... but it won't work. Sorry.

Ford used a similar concept on the SVT Lightnings, but they ran the refrigerant lines under the blower to act as an intercooler. But running the A/C I think would be futile.
Although this is an option.

If it were not for these kind of thoughts we would still be riding horses and walking everywhere But, it still won't work.

very clever thinking there, not alot of people think outside of the box on here... mostly just the same ideas regurgitated.

But its more like that everywhere and in everything in our world these days. We remake old movies, remake old songs, remake old cars, remake, remake, remake... We're a microwave generation. We just warm up old ideas we find in the back of the freezer that everyones forgot were there and serve them up like they're fresh and new.

There is a kit that puts a heat exchanger in your air box... After the refrigerant goes through teh AC circuit it is used to cool the charge air.

I wonder is cold air more efficient, or just capable of providing a little more power? (due to the condensed fuel/air mix). An evaporative cooler using only water and air speed could get pretty chilly. Make the vent air inlet/cowling the filler for the water resavore.

If your just looking to cool the intake charge hook up a methanol injection setup (ie. windshield washer fluid).
