I have replaced the radiator with a new 3 core, new heater control valve, water pump, t-stat, coolant temp sender, gauge temp sender and coolant all within 3000 miles and no change on the gauge? What the heck can be wrong here?

It also doesnt change much if I'm pulling a trailer, and the electric fan comes on with the AC but not when the motor gets hot.
sounds like you may have air in your system some where. that would be the first thing to check. next would be the thermo coupler that runs the larger fan. and does your ac fan still work if not get it changed out and see what happens

I have had the fluid changed 2 times. I guess both times could have had air?
I also forgot to mention I have a brand new clutch fan, fan, and shroud. The electric fan comes on when I turn the AC on, but then turns off after a minute or so then comes back on and the cycle continues.

I have a special bleeder in the top heater line hose. I use that to bleed the air out. Is there a better way?

my wifes Grand Pix
will do the stay cool then get hot erratically
if you get air in the system

you can run it all day with the cap of adding water
but it wont get the air out

there Is a little air bleeder valve by the thermostat that you open
after you fill it as much as you can then run it tell its hot
once it hit operating temp you can hear the air coming out then coolant
when the coolant starts coming out close the valve and its dun

I bet the 2001 jeep has an air bleed valve on it somewhere

Um, not sure I have that bleeder screw. Fairly certain I dont, its a 98 wrangler motor. I do know however that where that custom bleeder is, is at the highest point in the cooling system minus the reservoir. I will try to run it with the cap off and keep adding water till it overflows.

maybe loosen the temp sender on the thermostat housing to let some air out

Good idea mike. I just put the new sensor in and coolant came out for just a second then stopped. I think the back pressure kept the water from pouring out. I'll try both then report back, I was just out of town working so I didn't have my tools or XJ with me to work on it.

I suppose I could drill and tap a hole in the top of the housing. Then get a plug for it, if worse came to worse.
