stuck in water now my xj just shuts off
So i put my car into a ditch with feet of water and got pulled out soon after that so when i drove allll my electronics stopped working including my spedometers. When i use any electronic all the electronics shut off and shuts off the whole car and when i try starting my car now it makes a odd electric clicking sound. When i get the xj jumped and u take the cables off the battery the xj just shuts off!!!

I kinda have the same problem, if i plug anything into my cig lighter my 89 XJ just dies, amd when i restart it, it just dies again. it does that a few times before it stays running. So i just stay away from the cig lighter, but idk what it is eather And when it first did it, i was in the middle of a swamp, And it blew my radio fuse.

It sound like you have a big bug. 1. did you check to make sure the battery is putting out 12V's. 2. Have you checked your relay box by the battery to see if water is in there. 3. have you checked the alternator to see if its charging?

1. i havent checked the battery. 2. I checked in the relay box.............no water. 3.
How do i check if the alternator is charging?
i can turn the key half way and the electronics will work like my deck will work. But my lights are super dim like super dead looking. But when i push anything electrical the whole electric flows just shuts off and will come back on seconds later. So when i turn the key and turn it over it just makes clicking sounds they sound electric. idk what the hell is goin on

try swapping in a known Good battery then report what you find. From what you are explaining it sounds like you shorted your battery....

Check your grounds and wires. Something is grounding out somewhere. Or not grounding out properly. How hard did you hit the ditch?
Also, check all your fuses and relays.

before i say this i am thinking you did this very recently if so stop trying. disconnect battery go over every electrical connecter with wd40 or electrical cleaner take cover off ecu let it dry for a few days hopfully you havent fried anything if any relays get wet they tend to rust inside how deep did you go in and how long did it run in the water that fan can spray huge amounts of water

I bet it'll go away if you let it dry in a warm garage or something. A short or bad ground is throwing your starter relay. When that relay is engaged (just like when you are turning the key to start the engine) it cuts power to everything so that the starter recieves max amperage for starting in cold climates. Look on your starter motor for excess mud and tighten the nuts that hold the wires connecting them. Like mine did, you've probably had a bad connection there for a while and that dunk was the straw that broke the camel's back.
