Default stroker + turbo ???

Got your attention? Lol

Planning on building a stroker (not sure on the level yet) then adding a turbo to it. A co-worker has a good turbo off his eclipse that will push 30psi easy but I won't run it that high. A shop I deliver parts too will dyno the XJ before the build so I have a baseline.

here are a couple things ive found about turbos and different variations of the stroker engine, 300HP stroker* O0

http://www.jpmagazine.com/techarticl...ex.htmlhttp://

www.jeep4.0performance.4mg.com/stroker.html

$4300 for a supercharger* http://www.avengersuperchargers.com/

Anyone done this yet? Any input?

there was an article in petersens 4 wheel drive where they put a supercharger on a 4.0 cherokee.

imho it isnt worth it to put a super charger on a truck thats only worth $2000

used turbo is probably your best bet, but the only sticky part will get getting it to fit under the hood. also you would be askin for trouble going over 8 psi or so. if you got a turbo off a 3.9 cummins you would get wicked fast spool up at low rpms.

turbos dont even kick in till a higher RPM... which is only good if your building a drag car or you got a car with already no power going down the road... hints turbo beetles and such... i think you would be more happy with a small block conversion with less money spent and more power then a stroked and turbo setup...

The right turbo can be tuned to spool at 1500RPM and how much power do you think a XJ has going down the road with 35's lol.

Money wise it will cost me more to add a small block to the XJ than build a stroker and or add the turbo.

Turbo beetles are spooled up by 1300 rpm... most diesels spool up under 1000rpm... If you are wanting A LOT of boost, then you need more time to spool, if you are just running a small amount and a small turbo, you can have an almost instant spool.

First things first.
1. Whats gonna be the compression ratio of the stroker engine?
2. Where are you gonna put the FMIC?
3. What kind of FMU are you gonna run?
4. Do you have a place to tune the motor?
5. Using the turbo off the Mitsu, U will have to have a custom Header with flange made. Research a GOOD shop to make it tor you.

I cant think of more for now but if i do i'll post

still think a small block conversion is cheaper, easier, and more powerful... goodluck to ya though... dont blow it up... post some videos when ur done!

what kind of turbo is it?
T25?
13b?
16g?
18g?
maybe even a GT35R or HX40?
you dont want or need a front mount intercooler (MUD)
you can use a SMIC off a supra, side mount intercooler.

what he said. mitsu turbos are small in comparison to say a supra ct-26 you might want to do homework before slamming a turbo on and thinking woot for boost.

I got an amc 360 in mine, The engine is stock and runs close to 300 hp it only cost about a grand for everything doing the work myself and if I evr need more power than that the options are almost endless

I was thinking of a hybrid.I'd like to hear your suggestions.
low boost would a intercooler even be needed?

#1 depends on how much boost I want.probably 8.5-9.0 I'd like to have some power that was all motor.
#2Why would it have to be mounted in front? With a low boost why would I even need one?
#3 1:1 FPR and some homework
#4 yeah my garage
#5buy the flange pick my spot and fab to fit.

I did a turbo on a 2004 4.0 TJ that I had back in the day and it was awesome for the motor. It was basically a replica of the 505 performance turbo kit and it worked fantastic. No need for a special turbo header, just wrap the exhaust around the other side of the engine and tie the flange to the block somewhere.

I am currently building a stroker too and I am going for the low compression variety to leave the option of future boost open.
