strange noise when accelerating

strange noise when accelerating

Hi everybody,

While driving i'm hearing a strange noise ( like a «*tac-tac-tac*») coming from the engine bay but only when accelerating. In a stabilized speed nothing ( cruising on the highway at 60mph for example ).
My XJ is a 1997 4L AW4 model.The last owner told me the exhaust manifold was broken.Could this strange noise come from ?

Hi Radi,

You were right, the "tac-tac-tac" noise when accelerating was effectively coming from the exhaust manifold.I removed it yesterday and installed a new one ( it took me 7 hours to do the job). It had two cracks.Now my cherokee runs great !!!
