Default Strange manifold problem - vacuum plugs popped off...

Hi guys. Thanks for helping me with my other problem by the way.

New problem:
I was starting the Cherokee, and I heard a pop, and saw smoke.
I took a look under the hood, and I noticed 2 vacuum connections were gone.
I also saw a little coolant dripping onto the driveway.
I was able to reconnect the elbow and I found the rubber plug for the other one.
Then it started up fine.

Can you guys please explain why this happened, and how can I correct it?
Pics enclosed.
Thanks.

Maybe as somebody suggested in your other thread that the vacuum lines can be a little clogged. Just a guess. Rubber deteriorates over time. Maybe they are just not as tight as they should be. Thinking you have a Federal Emissions '00 cause you just have the front nipple capped off. That can be replaced easy enough. Any help wall in any auto parts store should have that one. For the middle one buy this: Dorman 46022. It is supposedly for a Ford but gives a nice tight fit.

You probably have one or more leaky fuel injectors. When the ignition finally started, it probably combusted some amount of raw fuel in the intake area and blew off your vacuum connections. (Only a lot of pressure coming from inside the intake manifold could do that).

If you find that the problem persists, you may want to start your vehicle using the "clear flood mode". Which is to hold the accelerator pedal to the floor while cranking (this will disable the fuel injector pulses, allowing the engine to blow out any unspent fuel that has collected in there). Let it crank a few times like this. Then take your foot off the pedal, and start normally.

Thanks again.
i ordered the dorman elbow you mentioned, and I got new vacuum caps at the parts place. The Jeep seems to run a bit smoother with the new cap on. The old one was really soft, maybe it was causing a slight vacuum leak?

As for the injectors, I'll have to get them checked.

you arent the only one that had this happen. My jeep did this 3 times 2 times at home when it sat and then one time when i went on lunch at work i went to start it up and i let off the starter a millisecond to early and i guess whatever was left in the cylinder or intake ignited and backfired out the intake and blew all the manifold caps and lines off.... of course it had to happen in front of a pretty girl too..... maybe thats payback when i was looking at a wrangler earlier

edit: Oh i forgot to add after doing a tune up it hasnt done it since
