STRANGE loss of power situation
I have a 92 xj 4.0 aw4.
use it as a trail/daily driver.
Runs really well. Lately though, i've had this strange problem. Its been cold here and last week we were playing on the ice, ended up falling in and getting muddy etc. I got out of that hole and went down the trail and noticed a big lack of power. Almost like I was stuck in 3rd gear when i should of been in first, the engine fighting to rev beyond 3k rpm. I though i lost my trans fluid from a punctured pan, or maybe my cat got clogged. Both checked out fine. So i restarted the jeep and it ran perfect. Fast foward to yesterday, Go through an ice puddle, get stuck, put in 4wL, get out, get onto the street it wont rev up. Shut the motor off and restart, jeep runs mint. I dont even know what to look for in this weird situation,NO codes etc.
Any ideas?

The "throttle position sensor" hates moisture. And it is directly involved with transmission shifting characteristics. Located on the throttle body.

Well its still going on . I believe it is related to moisture. What i dont understand is when i get the low power, if i Put the jeep in park and shut it down, then do a restart it runs great! Im not fimilar with these computer systems. What is it doing when i shut the truck down and restart? Is it resetting the computer?
