Stock XJ Transmission Noise?
Hey everyone,
2001 Jeep Cherokee Limited 156k Miles with an automatic transmission. My Jeep has been making a whining noise for a bit and has been getting progressively louder. It kind of sounds like the power steering but the pump is fine, fluid is good, and the noise doesn’t change when turning. It happens in park, drive, and reverse. It increases in pitch with RPMs when in park, but completely disappears when accelerating while in drive. Have had no problems with shifting other than a clunk when moving from reverse to drive.
Here is a video with the exact same noise:
Can anyone tell me what I should be looking at when trying to fix this?
