Default Stock but adventurous

Hey guys! New to the jeep world and so far loving my 95 XJ Sport. I want to keep her stock but at the same time do a couple of things that can make her go anywhere and everywhere. Any feedback and ideas are greatly appreciated!

WELCOME

A decent set of 235/75-15 tires will take you far.

coolant system--make sure it is good and has been taken care of. Lots of threads about XJ's running hot while wheeling

Dorman leaf springs and a 1" spacer on the front coils will bring it back to stock height + 1". (about $230). Then add a good set of 30/9.50/r15 tires like BFG AT/KO2, Hankook Dynapro ATM, General Grabber, or Goodyear Duratracs (only available in 235/75r15). (about $400-800 depending on which you choose).

Besides making sure the vehicle is cooling properly and running well, these two "refresh" type changes will really go a long way towards making a good off-road ready vehicle without significantly effecting the "stock" street friendless or gas mileage.

I like the idea of a little lift like 1 or 2 inches max. How about 245/75r/15 tires, are those enough clearance?

Oh yeah most definitely. Already ordered thermostat, hoses, water pump and cleaned reservoir and flushed radiator.

Yes. Those would be fine. They are almost exactly the same size as the 30/9.50r15.

The size I suggested is the tallest tire the stock setup will have no problems with, and still look nice. Some folks get away with more, but usually there is a trade-off with rubbing, and stuffing larger tires (larger than 30" tall and about 9.5" wide) into a stock configuration doesn't look very nice either (they look "stuffed" into the wells).

Here is an example of what I'm talking about:

Tires: 30/9.50r15 Hankook Dynapro ATM
Leafs: Dorman HD
Front: 1" Spacer with factory rubber isolator left in place
