Stock bumper winch mount

Hey all. I would like to mount a winch to my cherokee. I would like to keep the stock bumper, but have been shopping around for a winch bumper if thats what i have to do. but i have a question. Is there a place behind my bumper that i can mount the winch, i have this dream of cutting a hole in the center of my stock bumper for the fairlead. I just think it would look really awesome, and i am worried about airflow problems with the winch bumper as the winch would sit so high. Ideas or Advice?

it is really easy to take the front bumper off and check although my guess is no. I had mine off to make a template for a new bumper I am working on and the factory bumper has little clearance behind it.

Yes and no...You can mount a winch with a stock bumper but it won't actually even mount to your bumper. they sell what is essentially a rear tow hitch for the front of your truck. It will have a 2" receiver and you will need to get a winch mount that fits in the receiver hole. It will sit in front of your bumper not behind it.

ya what i was hoping for was a winch mounted out of sight but i doubt there would be room for it now anyway< as i was just outside and not even just the drum will fit behind it. shoot. any suggestions for a good cheap winch bumper that ships to canada?

You can use your stock bumper with that. You will need to notch it but it is a clean look, IMO.

clean winch mount with stock bumpers

This is awesome! I kinda want to fab a great looking bumper. I got the tubing, but the fab work is in my buddies garage. Its been almost a year and all we have done is put rock slides on. I do need to fab an inner cage so maybe I will use the tubing for that.
Anyone have any great pics of inner cages on cherokees?

Does anyone know if you could still use factory tow hooks with that setup. I know it has d-rings but I like the look of the tow hooks better.

hudfab in the vendor section.

These will require a winch cradle:

This one will not:

Something else to think about: if you rub on trees like I do, you'll bend the piss out of the stock bumper. It's thin metal. Really thin.

Just a thought, Front mount receiver, winch mount, and those cool HD jumper cable quick disconnects. Removable and makes less of a theft target. Carry it inside the jeep to keep it out of the weather and when you get ready to go wheeling, slap that bad boy on. If you run power cables to the rear, even better, cause you can't always pull from the front. Not to mention rear jump start capability..
