stock bumper endcaps?

stock bumper endcaps?
i have 2000 xj and i want to take off the plastic endcaps on the rear bumper and put jcr armor there...im assuming the bumper is open on the ends, anybody know anything about welding endcaps on the ends so its not open?

I'm sure it can and has been done. Not exactly OEM though 
What are you putting on from JCR? The rear quarter panel guards? I have those on my XJ. Took off the end caps for the install and then just put em back on after I got the QP guards on. I like the look of it how it is actually.
