Default Still leaking Oil

So I replaced my rear main seal and oil pan gasket on my 89 Cherokee in another posting but wanted to make a new one with new tech advice...

I sealed everything up and it hadnt leak on me for a few days. Just today I drove up to the store and checked my oil level, it was about 2 quarts low, then I checked under the rig, there's a pool of oil...

I took another look and its not the valve cover gasket nor is it the head gasket, but where the tranny mats to the engine, there's a metal plate where the flywheel would be (right where the starter is bolted on) the oil seems to be leaking in behind that specific piece of metal... Could it be the rear main seal is still leaking or is there a gasket in between the tranny/engine causing this leak?

Further tech would be greatly appreciated

yeah i replaced it with an OEM part... its leaking enough to have me NOT drive it for the time being until i am financially stable enough to pour more $ into the rig... funny thing is, i have a breather valve on top of the valve cover that routes to the air box... its been blowing "oil" into the intake, so i plugged that off not thinking it would cause any problems, but when i realized it, it started leaking oil when i plugged that valve, now that its unplugged and breathing freely, its stopped leaking. could this be a cause and pressure build up pushing oil out the rear main seal?

to do a quick fix on the blow by. get a cheap breather air filter and slap one on the valve cover and one on the open spot on the air box. problem fixed =] or you could even plug the one on the air box. but yes you nailed exactilly why you were leaking

On your next Rear Main seal job. Make sure you soak the gasket in oil for about a day prior to installing it. Also Be very care on instal if you even shave a hair off of it on install it will leak. Also Before you put the main bearing cap back on it is wise to add a dab of RTV to each end of the RMS. Insure that you torque the main bearing cap to spec.

Then all you can do is Pray you did good enough. I have two jeeps and done both of them and they still leave there mark every where they go but not two quarts worth lol.

i did pretty much what ^^ said. let the rms gasket sit for about a day in a half, plus RTV on the rms gaskets and torqued the ends to 80lbs, beh... im hoping its just the breather valve causing the problems, if it is then sweet deal, if not...... engine rebuild plus stroker and bored out .80 anyone?
