sticking front end as I turn in 4 wheel drive.
 
:notworthy:hey everyone new here,just bought a 94 xj. have a small or at least I hope its a small problem.when I put the jeep in 4 when drive and go forward everything is fine.But when I turn the wheel it feels like something is locking up.like something is sticking.Im thinking its in the front diff ? where should I start to look for the problem ? thank you.

have to be on a more slippery surface to use 4wd or that will happen. don't use 4wd on dry asphalt or concrete.

I hope its that simple.Ill go on a dirt road in the morning and see what she does.I had a bronco years ago and ran her in 4 wheel drive with no problem.

The XJ had 2 types of TC. The 231 part time TC (2HI-4HI-N-4LO) and 242 full time TC (2HI-4HI-4HI full time-N-4LO).

The part TC is just that. A shift of the fly TC to use for part time slippery surfaces. The Full time TC had the full time option where you can run on all surfaces due to the open differential style gears in the TC.

Worst case scenario front u joints are shot. Less that $50 in parts a rental ball joint press and a lot of elbow grease and you can replace them. I've done it a few times with mine.
