Stereo wiring

I'm really confused. I am working on installing a new head unit and also, upgrading the speaker wire, run an rca cable and remote wire for the future. I cannot, for the life of me see any means of routing the new wire from the head unit through the dash. It all looks encased. Also, the whole wire color code has me boggled. I have a 4 speaker system, but it is wired for six speakers. Between the FSM and the Haynes manual, my factory harness does not appear to match either. HELP!!!

I should also add

When I bought the jeep, it came w/ a speaker bar and after market head unit. According to my build sheet; it didn't say anything about a six speaker system, nor the soundbar. That leads me to presume, it was originally only a 2 speaker system from the factory. There were no other speakers in the jeep, other than the doors and sound bar. The door speakers may have been original (speaker had a clothe covering) and the sound bar had what appeared to be blown paper cone speakers.

Just get an adapter harness to jumper between your head unit and the factory wiring.

You don't need any thicker wire to run your dash or door speakers.

If you put sub(s) in, they will have their own amp and dedicated power cable.

You posted the second post while I was typing.

If you want to run new wiring, you have to "fish" speaker wire using a coat hanger or bailing wire.

You can either drill through your firewall, or run it through your door crevice, and inbetween the hood. Getting a factory adapter would work too, though I honestly prefer to run everything straight to the battery.

Use power and ground from factory harness. Then run new speaker wires.
Use coat hanger to fish wires through the dash.

Yes, you will notice a difference with 18ga speaker wire. Stock wiring sucks for speakers.

I ended up using the only thing I had available... 14awg :D

On another note; apparently the PO was not quite the electrician (nothing in the jeep is wired in any way, shape or form according to the FSM or Haynes manual). My next big task is wiring it up so that the backlight lights up. It won't hurt anything to wire my illumination wire to 12V switched will it? My relay center under the steering wheel is not even close to being wired correctly. There are only two relays (there are four plugged in) needed and neither one of them are in the factory spot.
