Default steering upgrade ???

I've recently lifted my jeep 3" but want to go 2 more inches. I've read that I may need to beef up my steering but am not sure what exactly I need to do. I have the stock size tires but would like to go to 32 maybe 33's. Any input is always appreciated. Thanx

either go with the JCR, or something like rusty's OTK setup. or for the cheap, go for a wj setup. you can also grab the outer knuckles too. they are easy to install with new ball joints.

Default I know, I'm hijacking the thread. Sorry.

How high can an xj be lifted before you need to do work to the steering?

i used to be at 5.5 inches with stock steering and no problems. but that was with 33 inch tires.

when i went to 8 inches and 36 inch tires, i started bending drag links on common occurrences.

jcr is an aftermarket parts company. http://www.jcroffroad.com/

and otk just means over the knuckle. another you may come across is utk, under the knuckle.

Anybody know where the best place is to get the reaming tools for the JCR utk setup? I will be doing this while on leave from Iraq in March and want to have everything ready to go when I get there.

most of the steering kits are just beefier versions of what your stock XJ steering is already. the way around that is from a V8 grand cherokee sway bar, tie rod and drag link. im going to pull my tie rod and sway bar this weekend from the yard. i already have the sway bar installed it cost me $15 and a rattle can of black primer.
