Steering problem

When doing around moderate speed and a slight turn i will crank my wheel an 1\8th turn but it wont start turning until i give it alittle nudge after that. Could this be u joints or maybe it needs a steering box adjustment?. It just feels very loose and i cant tow anything till i get it fixed please help fellow jeepers!

Check the linkage from the wheel all the way to the tires. One of the joints could have become worn or has a rounded edge. Check all the simple first.

sounds like worn or loose linkage. craw under there and have a friend wiggle the steering wheel back and forth with the engine off and front wheels on the ground and check everything. A u-joint wouldint do what you described.

I got my buddy to sit underneath as i moved the wheel back and forth and he noticed that after the previous owner lifted the vehicle he drilled a new hole for the track bar to connect to the axle. He drilled it to big and when i go around turns the bolt is moving inside the hole a 1\4 of an inch. I believe this has to be the problem their is a silver ring around the hole indicating it moving around. Does this sound right?
