Steering Knuckle Caliper slide bolt stripped out
Was replacing the front pads, because they needed it. LF was worn uneven. More wear to the rear of the pad, almost to metal.
Confirmed threads are stripped in steering knuckle as the likely cause. This caused movement of the caliper resulting in the uneven wear.
Is there a oversized caliper bolt available for this or do I have to Heli-coil until I get a Knuckle?

I just tack welded a nut to the knuckle on my zj when that happened

Hmm, pretty nice idea.
Without a welder, helicoil is the fix. I had one strip on mine too. I never did get a chance to helicoil it before swapping out the knuckles, but if I had decided to keep the knuckles, I probably would have just put a coil in all of them in advance. Because the threads for the slide pin bolts are pretty fragile and tend to disintegrate as the knuckle gets more rusty.

One of the holes on my 98 was already helicoiled. and the bolt that was used was too long and it smashed the pad against the rotor. whoever did it must have not checked to make sure the wheel spun freely because that end of the pad was almost gone and probably the reason that rotor was warped
just something to watch out for
