Default Steering Issues! Gear Box?

I have had this issue for a while now. My steering is very sloppy and after i drive my truck a couple miles and come to a stop. Its super hard to turn my steering wheel while sitting still. The PSP was new last year and when i replaced it, it didnt fix the problem. I had my brother turn the wheel while i was looking at the linkage and noticed that the steering wheel turns alot without even moving the linkage. I noticed that the slack starts and ends at the steering box. Im assuming that this means it's bad.

Reassure me,
por favor y gracias.

Hi, you can tighten the play by loosing the nut on the PS box and adjusting the center screw, have someone help but don't make it too tight or it will bind up an break the worm gear...Tj

I knew that you could adjust it, but ive always heard that theres more to it than just turning that screw. And i wouldnt really know how much to turn it.

IIRC, the steering box has like 1" of play stock. So if you turned the steering wheel back and forth you would have an inch of movement before moving the wheels. I have the same issue but haven't solved the problem as of yet. A drop pitman arm helped a lot with mine though.

an inch in circumfrence? If so i probably have like 4 inches on the outside of the steering wheel.
