I have another question.... i have a 2000 jeep cherokee sport straight 6 4 liter. stock engine. my jeep is steaming. i dont know much about engines so bare with me. the tube that goes into the top of the engine is steaming out hot water and steam. when i press it down the steam stops. so i think its a cracked ruber tube but im not really sure. i added oil. put more water coolant in. oh and also. when i drive it the water temperature gauges goes hella up. so anyways.. thats my problem. i appreciate it.

Actually mine was steaming this morning when I got to work, but its was kinda damp here last night and thought it was just from the dampness on the rad. You may want to have a look at the thermostat if the temp is rising like that. Does it smell sweet at all? Check the level in the rad and on the overflow as well.

well if the gauge goes waaay up then maybe part of the problem is the thermostat. id replace the therm and the hose and go from there, but it might entirely fix your issue

You deff need a new hose before it pops... and i always change mine in paires... drain the fluid and stick a water hose in the top of the radiator and let it run for a bit and refill with proper amount of antifreeze so i know its all good... so i dont have to worry about it again for awhile... overheating could be several things... cheapest to start with is the thermostat though... and may as well change that while your at it... actually i would fix the overheating first since it could be alot of things in which fluid will be lost to fix... and then fix the hose problem while your making whatever the repair comes out to be...

Replace your upper radiator hose (the one you described) and re-fill with coolant and the steam/overheating problems should go away. As mentioned above, you could replace your thermostat while you're at it but I'm willing to bet that you are overheating due to the fact that you are low on coolant because of a leaky upper rad hose.
