Starting problems

Hello all. I have been to this site many times before but am just starting out as a member. But I have a situation on my hands here. My 96 xj won't start for me. The night before it the weather went up like 30 degrees in one night and everything was wet and rainy (I was driving in it). I woke up and tried to start it and it was cranking and it tried to turn over multiple times but nothing. Ran out of juice in the battery and when I was getting a charge from a buddy I kept trying to start her. Finally I got it going and drove it home and then around the rest of the day no problems. Wake up the next morning for work and nothing. Changed the distributer cap and rotor figuring I had some moisture in the cap from all the rain and nothing. My neighbor who is very good with jeeps told me that it may be my CPS sensor? Which I looked up and seems to hit a lot of people like this. And then I also read that it may be my fuel pump? Anyone know of any ways I can check to see what may be the culprit? I am not that knowledgeable with my Jeep yet but plan on it. So if it is a job I can do myself I really want to try. Any help would be awesome. And if it makes a difference I know that I am getting spark.

Get a can of wire dry and spray it all over the wires, cap and relay box area. Let it set for a minute then try starting it.

If you have spark, the problem is not the crank sensor. You MUST test for spark first by pulling a plug, keeping the plug wire attached, placing the plug electrode near a good engine ground, have a buddy turn the key to crank the engine while you watch. You are looking for a strong, blue, snapping spark!

If the crank sensor is bad, you will NOT have spark and you will not have fuel going TO the fuel injectors (even though the fuel pump might energize with the key ON)
