99 XJ had starting problems last night for first time. When starting, when started, it was almost stalling and I had to floor it to get it to move. First time ever happened and after it started fine. Any ideas ?

 

Dirty fuel filter?

 

No idea. Isn't it hard to change ?

 

Fuel filter is part of the fuel pump assembly for your year and doesn't get changed separately. Verify fuel pressure at the fuel rail using a fuel pressure gauge. If you don't have proper pressure, a new fuel pump may be in your near future.

Get your battery load tested at your local auto parts store too. They'll do it for free

 

already put new battery in and they tested alternator and starter which are fine
