starting issues
I've had my 92 xj for a couple of years now and slowly but surely I'm fixing issues with it. Not a huge problem but a nagging one for sure; it has always taken 10-15 seconds before it will start up. I have been told that it could be the crank position sensor but it seems that if that was bad it wouldn't start at all. Like I said not a huge problem YET, but could turn south anytime. Has anyone had similar issues with this?:001_huh:

Does it ever stall?
Give your starter a whack |
doesn't stall out and have checked the wires all the way back including the starter, alt. and just replaced the battery.
|
Are you getting fuel for the first few seconds it cranks?
|
yep, good pressure. the motor does have 208,000 on it but still runs strong with 6.5 in of lift and 35's.

Good spark at the plugs on initial crank? Replaced the starter?
|
haven't checked the plugs yet, that's next on the hit list. by the time I actually find the problem I'm sure a new motor won't be far behind.

You can run these things up to 400k.
I have my dd at 236k, my rig at 301k, my last xj died at 416k. For the last 15k it hated its life. |
