Starting issues
I just picked up a '95 XJ with a 4.0. I got it cheap. It had several issues, all of which I have solved with parts I had. Except one. When I turn the key to start it, the starter will engage about 3/4 of the way through the turn and disengage when I get to the point where the key stops. If I let off the key a little the starter will reengage and the engine will start.
I don't believe this is a starter issue, I'm thinking, if it's set up like every other car I have worked on, there is a switch on the lower end of the steering column that the steering lock rod engages to send voltage to the starter. Am I correct? |

That's what I thought but I wasn't sure. Didn't want to go tearing into under the dash if that wasn't where I needed to be.
